I am sure you may have seen a lot of believers in whom God’s word has not become a reality. There are believers who know what the Bible says about healing, they know where it is written and can even quote it to you but they are struggling with sickness. Why is it so?
Well, the missing link is meditation.
When a believer refuses to meditate on the word of God, the word will never become a reality in his life. This is why, many believers even though they know what the Bible says, they never experience the reality of God’s word in their lives. The Word must be real to you.
Always remember, biblical meditation is different from worldly meditation. Satan is the god of this world and he is a counterfeiter. He has established ways, principles and philosophies that are in direct opposition to God’s word. So, if there is God’s way of meditation, then Satan has his way of meditation. We live in this world but we don’t belong to this world. We don’t live by the definitions of this worldly system, we are not governed by the ways, principles and philosophies of this world. We are citizens of God’s kingdom and we are governed by God’s Word.
Biblical meditation is not:
- is not emptying your mind of all thoughts, thinking about whatever comes to mind, or entering into a trance-like state with chanting.
- is not trying to attain to a higher spiritual level or detaching from the world.
- is not merging with nature or any other god or becoming one with “god.”
Biblical meditation is :
the deep, serious and careful thinking on God’s word for the purposes of application, understanding and prayer
You do this, by imagining and visualizing the Word and by speaking the Word to yourself.
Joshua 1:8
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Through Word meditation, you can make your way prosperous and have good success. For a believer, meditating on God’s word is a daily spiritual exercise. As you do this exercise daily, your spirit will become strong. If you read your Bible in a hurry, you won’t be able to meditate. Go slow. Think deeply on every verse. Think seriously and carefully on every word of every verse.
Psalms 1:2-3
But his delight is in the law of the Lord , And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
There is tremendous power in meditation. As you think deeply on God’s word, as you contemplate, ruminate and ponder on God’s word, the Holy Spirit opens the word to you. He gives you insight and revelation. He illuminates, enlightens you and you begin to see things you have never seen. You know things you have never known. Light comes!
Psalms 119:130
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
The opening and the unfolding of God’s Word gives light. When Light (revelation) comes, you can see better. If you can see better then you can think better, talk better and live better.
John 8:31-32
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
When you do your spiritual exercise of word meditation daily, revelation comes – you will know the truth. When Light comes, freedom will come. Glory will come. Deliverance will come. Healing will come. Miracles will happen. Hallelujah.
Think about this, a believer who is sick or struggling with wrong habits may think he needs healing and deliverance. Well, he doesn’t need healing, he doesn’t need deliverance. What he needs is revelation.
Revelation comes through word meditation.
Light comes through word contemplation.
Insight comes through word rumination.
As he takes God’s word and thinks deeply, carefully and seriously on it, the Holy Spirit gives him revelation. His freedom, healing, deliverance, miracle is in the Word revelation. The moment he gets revelation, he gets his freedom. Glory!
I encourage you to take the time and meditate on God’s word daily. There is much power in word meditation. If you are not doing it, you are missing out on so much.
