Work out your own salvation.

Philippians 2:12‭-‬13..Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure

A powerful verse indeed! Work out your own salvation. The verse doesn’t say work for your salvation. You cannot work for your salvation. You can’t earn it and you cannot achieve it. Salvation is a gift you receive through faith in Jesus. You receive salvation not because of what you do but because of what Jesus has done. Your faith in the works of Jesus gives you salvation.

Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

You possess salvation. This verse says, work out your own salvation.

The Greek phrase “work out” denotes the expression, manifestation, or actualization of something one already possesses.

Manifest your salvation. Show your salvation to the world. Since you are a tree of righteousness, manifest the fruits of righteousness. Since you are a good tree, bring out good fruits. A good tree will produce good fruit. A tree is known by it’s fruit. Now listen to this, you can’t manifest your salvation without the Holy Spirit. You can’t do it. It’s impossible.

The Holy Spirit is the one who helps you in working out your own salvation. You can’t do it alone.

Let’s see verse 13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. In other words, Holy Spirit is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. The Holy Spirit is working in you right now! This is why it’s so important to be in fellowship – fellowship with Jesus, fellowship with His Word and fellowship with other believers. Listen, you may have wrong desires in you today and you are asking, How do I get good desires? Don’t quit just because you have wrong or dirty desires. Stay in fellowship.

Understand this, you can’t create good desires in you by yourself and you don’t have the power to do anything good by yourself.

It’s the Holy Spirit who does that. As you abide and remain in the Word and as the Word dwells richly in you, the Holy Spirit in you will work on those dirty, worldly desires and destroy it. He will create in you godly and holy desires – listen! – not only will He create godly desires in you but He will give you the power and passion to do those desires. Hallelujah!

Thank you Lord for the mighty Holy Spirit!

Fellowship is key! Without fellowship, the Holy Spirit can’t do much in you, for you and through you. My point is this, Holy Spirit can’t transform a person who doesn’t have time for God, His Word and His gatherings.

II Corinthians 13:14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

The Father and Son are in heaven today. But the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer. This verse says, we are to be in communion with the Holy Spirit.

The word communion is the Greek word ‘Koinonia’

Koinonia means

  • Fellowship
  • Partnership
  • Joint participation
  • Sharing together
  • Intimate friendship

The intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit – your oneness with the Holy Spirit. No more two, but one – one with the Holy Spirit. You develop a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit through your study of the Word, through personal prayer, through worshipping Jesus and through your active participation in the fellowship of the saints.Believer, even if you struggling with wrong desires and behavior, remember – you have salvation. Don’t let the guilt and condemnation keep you away from fellowship. Just stay in fellowship. Keep working on the word. Give yourself to personal prayer and worship. Never miss church! The Holy Spirit will work in you and you will surely see transformation happening in your life. Your desires, passions and approach will change and your joy will be full. Remember, it is God who works in you, giving you His desires and the power to do those desires.
