The Greater One lives in You!

I John 4:4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The Apostle Paul said to Timothy, ‘In the last days perilous times will come.‘ Truly we are experiencing perilous times in these last of the last days.

Isaiah 60:1‭-‬2Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

Even though we live in dangerous times, the light and glory of God upon us differentiates us from the rest of the world. In simple words, the darker it gets the brighter we shine. Knowing who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ, who’s you are and who’s in you makes all the difference and will cause you to stand out and shine in these perilous times. Let’s study 1st John 4. 4″You are of God, little children..“That’s a covenant statement. You have a covenant with God in the blood of Jesus. Because of this covenant, you belong to Almighty God and Almighty God belongs to you.

Hebrews 8. 10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord : I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Abraham was of God and God was the God of Abraham because of the covenant. In the old covenant, Abram had God’s name in His name and His name became Abra-ha-m. Similarly in this new covenant, we are named with the name of the Almighty God. And we know the new covenant is way better than the old covenant. In this new covenant, we are born of God.New birth or to be born again is to be born of God. You come from God and you belong to God. God is your Abba, Father and you are His beloved child. You are born of His seed, the incorruptible word of God.We are in the world but we are not of the world, we belong to God by covenant and by new birth. “…have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”As children of the Most High God, we have overcome Satan, all his demons and all His forces. We have already won a big victory over them.

We are not trying to fight the devil. We are not trying to defeat the devil.

Because we have already defeated and conquered the devil and all his forces. We are victorious. The wrestle in Ephesians 6.12 is not talking about fighting to get the victory but rather its referring to the fight of faith to maintain the victory that a believer has already obtained through Jesus Christ. The fight is to stand in the victory we have received in Jesus Christ. Remember, Satan is a deceiver. He will try to distract you from these new covenant realities and convince you that he is not defeated. Ignorance of these redemptive realities will compel you to fight an enemy that is already defeated. Ignorance is expensive. The Bible tells us, word ignorance brings bondage and destruction to God’s people. But knowing the truth of God’s word brings freedom.Notice the verse says, we have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.This verse talks about the one who is in you and the one who is in the world. The one who is in the world is referring to Satan because II Corinthians 4.4 calls Satan as the god of this world. But notice, there is some one in you. He is the Holy Spirit. Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit and He said, the Holy Spirit, the Helper is with you and will be in you forever. Believer, be conscious and aware, the Holy Spirit lives in you.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in you is the evidence of the eternal defeat of Satan, his demons and all his forces.

If Satan is not defeated, the Holy Spirit could not have tabernacled in you. It’s impossible. The one who is in you is GREATER than the one who is in the world. In other translations, we read the Holy Spirit is mightier, far greater and more powerful than the devil. If the Holy Spirit were not greater than the devil, he could not indwelt us. But thank God, the Holy Spirit is FAR GREATER than the devil. Look at this verse,

Romans 8:11The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

The Spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead. Satan, all His demons, all hell and the forces of darkness were against the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resistance was so huge yet the Spirit of God demonstrated the highest level of power ever known, defeating Satan and all the forces of hell and resurrecting Jesus from the dead.The Holy Spirit is far greater, mightier and more powerful than the devil. Satan is no match for Him. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, this same Holy Spirit is in you and therefore you are far greater, superior, more powerful and mightier than the devil, his demons and all his forces.The Holy Spirit in you is the mark of your superiority and dominance over Satan and all his forces. You are not trying to defeat the devil. He is already defeated and conquered. Hallelujah.

The Greater One lives in me. His presence in me is the evidence of the eternal defeat of Satan and all his forces. The Greater One in me makes me greater than Satan and all his forces. I am mightier, far greater and more powerful than all demons, all curses, all sicknesses and diseases. I am invincible. I am indestructible. I am more than a conqueror. I am an overcomer. Satan and His forces cannot touch me and they cannot conquer me. I am over them. I am above them. The Greater One is in me. Therefore I have no fear. I refuse to fear. I know who I am in Christ. I know what I have in Christ. I know who’s I am and who’s in me. Glory!
