“Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars.” Proverbs 9:1 NIV
Wisdom is a builder. It builds your life. It will build your marriage. It will build your character. It never destroys. Wisdom builds every arena of your life with beauty and grace. If you choose wisdom, your life will be built gloriously. Wisdom will make you a builder, never a destroyer. Remember, wisdom is the most important thing.
What are the seven pillars that Wisdom has set up and carved out?
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17 NKJV
The first pillar of wisdom
Wisdom from above is first of all pure. Therefore purity is the first pillar of God’s wisdom. Let us check the same verse in different versions for better understanding.
“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled)..James 3:17 AMPC
“But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled] James 3:17 AMP
“Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life… James 3:17-18 MSG
But the wisdom that comes from above leads us to be pure… James 3:17 CEV
Heavenly wisdom centers on purity… James 3:17 Voice
The word pure comes from the Greek word hagnos which carries the idea that it is not mingled or mixed. It is undiluted. It’s the original. It refers to innocence, especially spiritual integrity and moral sincerity which allows a person to have a clear and unstained conscience. The Amplified Bible says, the wisdom from above is morally and spiritually undefiled.
It is not enough to think well, speak well and dress well – these are not manifestations of God’s wisdom. The first pillar that is set up by God’s wisdom is a holy life. God’s wisdom leads us to be pure.
You are not mingled or mixed with the world. You are separate from sin and wickedness. You are committed and dedicated to God. Your life is about God and for God. You are in God and God is in you. You live a pure life not as per the twisted and corrupted standards of the world – the world calls pure what is evil and calls evil what is pure. You live a pure life in the sight of God by the ability of God for the glory of God.
God’s wisdom does not produce evil work. It is not dirty and filthy. It does not produce or promote wickedness. It doesn’t compromise. It doesn’t adjust with the principles of the world – for all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
You can easily recognise the One who walks in God’s wisdom. How will you do it? What’s the first pillar of wisdom? What’s the first thing you will see in a person claiming to walk in God’s wisdom ? – a pure and holy life.
Jesus, the manifestation of God’s wisdom lived a pure and holy life – a life dedicated and committed to God. A life that is for God, through God, in God and by God. The first pillar of wisdom was mightily seen in the life of Jesus. Look at some verses
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
“Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?” John 8:46 NKJV
“And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.” John 8:23 NKJV
““Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;” I Peter 2:22-23 NKJV
The first pillar – the first manifestation of God’s wisdom is a pure life.
You are victorious in Christ.
