“For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.” Proverbs 8:11
Wisdom – divine wisdom is better than rubies. God’s wisdom can give you what rubies cannot give you. God’s wisdom gives you long life, riches and honour. This is why King Solomon says, nothing can be compared with her, for wisdom – God’s wisdom is the principal thing.
In order to walk in divine wisdom, you must devour the written word of God. The Word of God will make you wise. The Word of God will empower you to live skilfully.
““Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’” Deuteronomy 4:5-6
Moses said to the Israelites carefully observing the commandments of the Lord is your wisdom and your understanding. Doing the Word is Wisdom! Doing the Word is Understanding! The written word of God is the accumulation of the thoughts, the purposes and the ways of the Almighty God. Therefore the Word of God is the Wisdom of God. If you submerge yourself in the written word of God, you will see yourself becoming wiser in life. Let’s look at a few verses
“and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” II Timothy 3:15
“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;” Psalms 19:7
If you have a Bible, you can walk in divine wisdom. Any one who takes the Word of God seriously and makes it an integral part of their lives, that person whoever he or she is – will partake of God’s divine wisdom. The Word of God must occupy first place in your life. The Word of God must be final authority in your life. The Word of God must be your daily food. The Word of God must be your greatest treasure. Your life must revolve around the Word of God and must be built on it. You must become one with the Word.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16-17
As you fellowship with the Word with an objective of becoming One with it, the Word will teach you what is true and make you realise what is wrong in your life. The Word will correct you when you are wrong and will teach you to do what is right.
“You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.” Psalms 119:98
The key is to keep abiding in the written word of God. Just keep going deeper and deeper. Never stop learning. Never come to a place where you say, I know enough and I don’t need to study God’s Word anymore. Stay humble and keep filling yourself with the Word of God. We see the life of Jesus, Daniel and Paul – men who operated in supernatural wisdom. Each one partook of this divine wisdom through the study of God’s Word.
In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Daniel 9:2
Daniel understood by the books – a diligent student of the Scriptures. He was praised for His wisdom by heathen kings.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
Jesus knew the Word in and out. He discussed the Word with the scholars at the age of twelve. He corrected the Pharisees when they misquoted and misinterpreted the word of God. Jesus was a word man and therefore He was a wise man.
The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. 2 Timothy 4:13
Paul said to Timothy, bring the books but especially the parchments. He too was a diligent student of the Scriptures.
You cannot walk in divine wisdom without giving yourself to the diligent and consistent study of the written word of God. Remember the Word of God is the Wisdom of God. The Word will make you wise!
You are victorious in Christ!
