Matthew 23:1-3
Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.
The scribes and Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat of authority. This represents the synagogue chair, which symbolizes the origin and authority of their teaching. This is why Jesus said, whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do. Moses’ seat gave them authority. However, Jesus told them not to do according to their works because they didn’t practice what they preached.
Ephesians 1:19-23
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Today, a believer is seated on Jesus’ seat just like the Pharisees and scribes sat on Moses’ seat of authority.
Ephesians 2:4-6
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
When Jesus was raised from the dead and seated at God’s right hand. God raised you up with Christ and made you to sit together with Him in the heavenly places in Christ. These verses help us understand the authority that has been given to the believer. You are seated with Christ at God’s right hand far above all principality, power, might and dominion and every name that is named. You are on Jesus’ seat. You have authority over demonic forces.
This seat is given to you by Jesus. It’s not because of your ability or your sacrifices. God’s great love and mercy gave you this awesome position. The moment you received Jesus as your Lord, you were seated with Christ at God’s right hand. Understand, you don’t lose the seat by your imperfections. It has nothing to do with how you feel. It’s a spiritual reality. You are seated on Jesus’ seat today, tomorrow and forever. Nothing is going to change this reality. Don’t allow Satan to make you believe that somehow because you didn’t do somethings right, God has removed you from Jesus’ seat and your authority won’t work anymore. No wonder He is called a deceiver. Establish yourself in this powerful reality through meditation and let it be settled in your consciousness.
The only weakness of a believer is His ignorance.
When you speak, every principality, power, might, dominion and every name have to respond and submit. This includes demonic forces and powers of darkness. Jesus said, ‘In my name you will cast out devils.’ Why His name? Because you are seated on His seat. You have His position and His authority.
Knowing you are seated on Jesus’ seat, as you exercise your authority, it is as if Jesus is using His authority. When you speak, there is power! When you command, there is power.
Your authority in Christ is undisputed, unrivaled and cannot be overpowered.
No demon can stand in front of you. No sin can defeat you. No sickness, disease or virus can conquer you. No curse can work against you. You are in Jesus’ seat. Take your authority and resist the forces of darkness in the name of Jesus. Take your authority and keep Satan and His forces in their rightful place – that is under your feet. Anytime the devil, demons or any demonic force raises their ugly head, use your authority and in the name of Jesus command them to move out of the way.
Don’t allow the devil to play with your life like a ping pong ball, kicking you in every direction. When you realize, you are on Jesus’ seat and you have His position and His authority, you will begin to talk to the devil.
Satan, in the name of Jesus, Stop! No more do I permit your works against me and my family and my nation. I have been delivered from the power of darkness and I have authority over you and all your forces. Therefore in the name of Jesus, I refuse to accept your lies, deceptions, accusations, slander. I refuse to accept fear. I refuse to accept sickness and diseases. I refuse to accept your curses. I am over you and far above you. I am seated on Jesus’ seat. I am more than a conqueror, I cannot be defeated, I cannot be stopped and I live a triumphant life far above the devil and His demonic forces.
