Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of my Confession.

Hebrews 3:1
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,

According to this verse, Jesus is called the Apostle and the High Priest of my confession.

The word confession comes from the Greek word homologia, which means to say the same thing in agreement.

Therefore confession means to agree with God and say exactly what He says.

  • Whatever God says about you, agree and say the same thing.
  • Whatever God says about your health, agree and say the same thing.
  • Whatever God says about your finances, agree and say the same thing.
  • Whatever God says about your future, agree and say the same thing.

Find out what God says in His Word concerning every area of your life, agree with it and began to declare and say the same thing. Christianity is called the Great Confession.

I AM WHAT GOD SAYS I AM.

I HAVE WHAT GOD SAYS I HAVE.

I CAN DO WHAT GOD SAYS I CAN DO.

This will take discipline on our part because we are used to confessing defeat, failure, sin, weakness and the supremacy of Satan. Many a times believers confess more about the devil than about the In Christ realities. You must train yourself to agree and speak in line with God’s word and not allow your tongue to be controlled by your five physical senses.

Stop talking about and bragging on what the devil is doing to you, how he is hindering you and keeping you sick. Never magnify the devil. Jesus has eternally defeated him fair and square. Don’t be devil conscious. Don’t be sin conscious. Don’t be defeat conscious, weakness conscious or failure conscious. Be Christ conscious.

Whatever you confess consistently, that’s what you are conscious of all the time.

Confess,

  • Who is Jesus Christ to you?
  • What has Christ done for you? Study His love.
  • What is Christ doing in you right now?
  • What is Jesus doing in heaven right now?
  • Who are you in Christ?
  • What do you have in Christ?
  • What can you do in Christ?

Now notice, Jesus Christ is the Apostle and the High Priest of our confession. Let me say it again, Jesus is the Apostle and the High Priest of my confession. Apostle means a ‘sent one’ – Jesus was sent by God to save mankind. Jesus Christ, through His blood and His finished works – His death, burial and resurrection – has obtained for us eternal redemption. Having done so, he sat the right hand of the throne of God.

Not many are aware of His present day ministry at the right hand of God. Yes, Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry – I am talking about His High Priestly ministry for the believers. In heaven, Jesus is our High Priest. Because Jesus is our High Priest, we have access to the Father God and boldness to stand in His presence. He represents us directly to God the Father, but He’s the High Priest of our confession. He’s been sent to put into effect, to execute, to carry out the words that you say.

Understand, He can only minister as High Priest on our behalf when we make the right word confession with our mouths on earth. When you say what the Word says, your High Priest, Jesus Christ who is also the surety of the new covenant will see to it that it comes to pass in your life. He is ordained by God to carry out, administer and execute your confession of God’s Word.

Hebrews 4:14

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

When you confess the Word, remember the High Priestly ministry of Jesus Christ. This will energize your word confession and take it to a higher level. You will begin to confess the Word like you have never confessed before.

Knowing Jesus as your High Priest, not only encourages you to do your confession but also inspires and emboldens you to hold firmly and tightly to your confession.

Pressure and challenges will come. Your senses may say something different than the Word. Your feelings and emotions may not agree with God’s word. The world and the people around may speak contrary to God’s word. But as for you, remember Jesus Christ is the High Priest of your confession. When you speak against His Word, you are limiting His High Priestly ministry. He can’t do much for you. Even though He loves you and wants to do so much for you, He can’t do it. Give Him something to work with. Give faith voice to His Word. His Word is His only obligation. He will never do what He has not said. He will only do what He has said for He has placed His Word above all His name. Hallelujah.

He is the One who promises and He is the One who fulfills it in your life. He told Abraham that He would give Him a son and make him a father of many nations. Then He changed His name from Abram to Abraham. As Abraham began to declare His new name, the Lord who promised it was well able to bring it to fruition in His life.

Jeremiah 1:12

Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Don’t give up on your confession. No matter what, Speak the Word. Come what may, Speak the Word. Your High Priest, Jesus Christ takes immense pleasure in fulfilling His Word in your life.

Shalom!
