You are Superior to Satan

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke‬ ‭10:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Look at the last part of the above verse, ‘…and nothing shall by any means hurt you’ Jesus has given us authority to trample serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. If we become aware of this authority and exercise it boldly then nothing shall be any means hurt us.

To trample means to crush with the feet, to advance by setting your feet on it and lastly it also means to treat with insult and contempt. This is what Jesus expects you to do against serpents and scorpions referring to all the demonic spirits and forces. We are not supposed to be afraid of the devil, we are supposed to charge against him in boldness because Jesus has given us His authority. Just like David charged against Goliath, the church must charge against the forces of hell and expand God’s kingdom on earth. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God.

One of the new covenant reality every believer needs to be aware of is this verse,

‭[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, [5] even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), [6] and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Ephesians‬ ‭2:4‭-‬6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

According to this verse, when Jesus was made alive, the church was made alive with Him. When Jesus was raised up, the church was raised up together with Him and when Jesus was made to sit in the heavenly places, the church was made to sit together with Him in the heavenly places. We are completely identified with Him because we are in Christ. You, I and every single believer is in Christ and we are in complete union with Him. Well, where is Jesus seated?

‭[19] and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power [20] which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, [21] far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. [22] And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, [23] which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians‬ ‭1:19‭-‬23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus is seated at God’s right hand – the place of supreme power and authority – far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named not only in this age but also in that which is to come. This is your place. Not because you achieved it or earned it but because you are in Christ. Therefore you are seated, where He is seated and remember that He is seated at God’s right hand far above all the powers and forces of darkness.

I still remember the time when my son, Agape was placed in my hands after the delivery and when He opened His eyes for the first time He saw me. He was born into the Matthew family. He was born with my name. He was born into the inheritance of His Father. I say this because our spiritual experience is similar to the physical birth of a child. When you get born again, you are included in Christ. When you opened your eyes at new birth, you were at God’s right hand. This is the place of your new birth. Many believers are trying to reach God’s right hand. A believer doesn’t need to reach or achieve God’s right hand, in Christ a believer is born at God’s right hand.

You are born in superiority. By birth, you are superior to satan, all his demons and all his forces. By birth, you are far above – not just above – you are far above all principality, power, might and dominion and every name of this age and the coming age because you are in Christ. Don’t try to become superior to satan. Remember you are born in superiority over all the forces and powers of the enemy. You are born superior to satan.

Don’t be afraid of the devil and his demons

Don’t be afraid of black magic, sorcery and witchcraft.

Don’t be afraid of sicknesses and diseases.

Don’t be afraid of what satan can do.

In Luke 10.19, the word ‘authority‘ comes from the Greek word ‘exousia‘ which refers to controlling influence and superiority. You are superior to satan and all his forces and the Lord expects you to exercise controlling influence over him. The Lord expects you to keep satan in check. The Lord expects you to use the authority He has given you and the keep the enemy in his place of defeat. The Lord expects you to crush the enemy and keep advancing by keeping your feet on the devil. The Lord expects you to be aware of your superiority and stop all efforts of the enemy to stop God’s plan from being fulfilled in your life. The Lord expects you to stop the agenda of the enemy against the nations of the world and against the body of Christ on earth.

He gave you superiority with a responsibility. Take responsibility today and pray over your nation. Take responsibility and stop the plans of the wicked enemy. Take responsibility and pray for salvation of the nations of the world. Take responsibility and pray for the edification and perfection of the body of Christ. Know your superiority in Christ and display your superiority over satan and all his forces by using your authority in the name of Jesus.

You are victorious in Christ!
